Stimulus Package includes $7 billion of defense spending

I'm skimming the stimulus bill. It includes $7 billion of defense spending, mostly to improve military buildings (not including $1 billion of spending on veterans).

Does the progressive alternative media cover this? It's pretty outrageous to sneak this money into the military. Though I guess that's how Congress writes its bills.

It's outrageous because the military already has enough money in its budget ($700 billion), and because spending on the military is not the way to do effective stimulus (spending on non-military projects create more jobs).

There is also $4 billion for fossil fuels research (clean coal???), $100 million for the southwest border fence/surveillance, and $1-$2 billion for homeland security and airporat security.
