Thunderbird 6.0.2 Slow to Delete and Open Messages - Solution

Thunderbird has started to upgrade the email client software more frequently.

With version 6.0.2, I noticed that it took 1-3 seconds to open or delete a message (compared to 0.1 seconds in previous versions). This made going through my email extremely painful.

The solution is to open your trash. This will trigger a reindexing of your trash mailbox and make it easier to open and delete messages.

If you have several thousand messages in your trash, it might take a minute or more to reindex it. Once it is done - opening and deleting messages should be back to the regular speed.
