Starting Date: 07-20-2006 Starting Time: 9:00am Ending Date: 07-23-2006 560 Allen Street Syracuse, New York 13210 United States 315-472-5478This event will provide young activists with the skills we need to connect and provide a multi-faceted approach to fighting environmental and social injustices. SEAC is a student and youth run national network of progressive grassroots organizations and individuals whose aim is to uproot environmental injustices through action and education. We define the environment to include the physical, economic, political and cultural conditions in which we live. By challenging the power structure that threatens these environmental conditions, SEAC works to create progressive social change on both the local and global levels. Through this united effort, thousands of us have translated our concern into action by sharing resources, working in solidarity with numerous social justice organizations, and challenging the limited mainstream definitions of environmental issues.
Our goals for the ATC are simple, but bold:
„h Creating a space where activists are challenged to relate others¡¦ efforts to their own while acknowledging how multiple forms of oppression can potentially inhibit true solidarity.
„h Training sessions both by and for youth activists in which we share and learn the skills we need to become better organizers and leaders at national and local levels
„h Making visible the connections between all social justice movements.
„h Having fun with music, stories, parties, games, & more! And a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with student leaders from all over the country
We are currently seeking workshop presenters/ participants. So, please invite everyone you know to attend the ATC not only to hear your workshop(s), but to see how activists around the country interact.
