Starting Date: 02-16-2007 Ending Date: 02-17-2007 Steidinger Auditorium, University Of South Florida St. Petersburg, Florida 33701 United StatesEven during peacetime, journalists bear an awesome responsibility. In a complex, global world, citizens need timely, accurate, and relevant information so that they can make wise decisions about their lives. Journalists are often ordinary citizens' only source of that information. Without this information, we cannot make wise decisions.
So what do journalists do during wartime when they have information the government wants suppressed on grounds of national security, yet the public would plausibly want and even need to know this information? Given these considerations, what are the responsibilities of journalists during wartime?
These very issues will be addressed at this public event. Please join us!
