Learn Social Justice Organizing Skills while Empowering Workers...UNITE HERE is a progressive labor organization, representing approximately 440,000 workers in the hotel, textiles, industrial laundry, gaming and food service industries in North America. These service industries employ large numbers of women, recent immigrants and people of color. UNITE HERE is committed to raising the living standards of the people who do some of the most “invisible” work in North America: the workers who clean hotel rooms, wash hospital sheets and serve food in cafeterias and airports.
Innovative organizing campaigns and our strong training program make UNITE HERE an exciting place to create change and empower the disenfranchised workers in these industries. UNITE HERE will be conducting a 6 week paid summer internship called Hotel Summer 2008. Internship sites are located throughout the country. There will be classroom training followed by 6 weeks in the field with experienced organizers. A weekly stipend of $450.00 will be given for working long hard hours.
There will be 2 independent sessions;
Session 1 - June 2 through July 11th
Session 2 - July 21 through August 29th
