This year’s Powershift West theme is to "Think global, act local." This encompasses four specific campaigns:
Ensuring the passage of a strong climate bill in the Senate and U.S. signing of a fair, ambitious, and binding agreement at the UN Climate Talks in Copenhagen this December
Starting an initiative for a high-speed rail corridor from Eugene, OR to Vancouver, BC
Promoting local community energy and efficiency solutions
Moving America beyond coal through regional activism
Powershift West seeks to empower youth with skills for organizing and advocacy and a stronger foundation in the issues. By the end of the conference, students will experience a shared bond of purpose with others in the region working on similar goals and return to their communities inspired to create change.Geographical Scope: State Conference |
