Description
The Progressive Resource/Action Cooperative (PRC) is holding an Anti-Columbus and Anti-"Chief Illiniwek" rally and march. "Chief Illiniwek" is the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's mascot and symbol. The PRC will be protesting the genocide of Native American people that began with Christopher Columbus, and that continues today with the appropriation of Native culture. The rally will begin at 6:00pm on the south side of the Illini Union. It will be followed by a march to the Alma Mater to let the community know that the tradition of "Chief Illiniwek" founded on appropriation and genocide must end at once!
