At each stop, we will host listening sessions to bring together diverse members of each local community including community leaders, government officials, community-based organizations and funders. These events will provide opportunities for women, girls and their families to share local challenges and to discuss solutions for change. In the Fall, we will release a report in Sacramento summarizing the Tour's findings.
In Fresno, we welcome the insight of Luisa Medina, to help introduce the event. Luisa Medina has more than twenty-five years of experience as an advocate for children and families in Fresno County. She is currently the President of the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education. She has previously chaired the City of Fresno’s Housing and Community Development Commission, and acted as an advisory body to the Mayor and City Council on matters related to redevelopment projects and the expenditure of federal dollars for revitalization of moderate and low-income communities. Ms. Medina is currently the Development Director for Central California Legal Services, Inc. (CCLS). CCLS is the primary provider of free civil legal services in the Central Valley. CCLS provides assistance in numerous areas including domestic violence and elder abuse prevention, landlord/tenant, healthcare access, education and youth law, consumer law, community economic development, employee rights and taxpayer assistance.Geographical Scope: Metro Convergence |
