Bio
My name is Joseph Hill and I am currently entering my sophomore year in college after being accepted as an early admissions student at Montgomery County Community college, at the age of 15. I have completed 27 credits and have maintained a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) throughout my college career: being the youngest, and only African-American to qualify for the Honors Scholarship that year.
In terms of extracurricular activities, I am an active member of the Honors club, a member of the African-American student league, a member of the multimedia ministry at the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, and a regular contributor to Acres of Diamonds--a talk show which airs on 1340 AM WHAT from 6-10pm on Saturday nights. I am currently employed at WCAU TV NBC 10 as an advertising/promotions assistant, where I write scripts for promotion pieces and assist in the development and production of community updates that air during station breaks.
I plan to study a combination of journalism and political science when I complete my undergraduate studies at either Howard, University of Pennsylvania, or Columbia University; and go on to pursue my law degree shortly thereafter. If things go as planned, I will go on to become an attorney or a journalist in hopes to expose the truth and be the “voice of the voiceless.”
Although my career and educational goals are important, I believe that contributing to society is important, which is why I dedicate my time to my church, and have completed various community service projects at the Ron Brown Cultural Center, The Greater Philadelphia Food Bank, and the American Stroke Association. I have also organized fundraisers for Family Services of Montgomery County.
